Trace heating
Trace heating

This is a system used to maintain or raise the temperature of pipes and vessels, using an electrical heating cable that runs along pipework, which in turn is covered in thermal insulation.

Trace heating may be used to prevent water from freezing in pipes, maintain a constant flow temperature in hot water systems, or to maintain process temperatures for piping that must transport substances that solidify at ambient temperatures. These processes are regulated by built in thermostat(s) therefore no additional control device is necessary.
